City Planning Commission Meeting
On Thursday, September 24, 2020, the City Planning Commission will hold two public hearings at its regular meeting. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Please scroll down for viewing instructions.
At 5:10pm, the request of Parkstone Development Partners on behalf of Selden Innovation Center to rezone 950 Selden, 924-974 Frank, and 937-955 Alexandrine from SD1 (Special Development District - Small Scale, Mixed-Use), R2 (Two-Family Residential), and PD (Planned Development) to SD2 (Special Development District - Mixed-Use) will be considered. The petitioner is proposing to redevelop the former Jefferson School into a shared office building and develop the lots north of the former school for surface parking.
At 6:00pm, the request of the Planning & Development Department to amend the Detroit Master Plan of Policies in the Neighborhood Cluster 1, State Fair Neighborhood area will be considered. The proposed amendment is to change the Future General Land Use designation of the former State Fairgrounds from PR (Regional Park) to IL (Light industrial). The change is being requested to allow for the sale of City-owned property and its redevelopment for commercial and/or industrial purposes.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order (EO 2020-21) went into effect on March 24, 2020. Therefore, the Detroit City Planning Commission (CPC) will be meeting virtually using video conferencing software in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This action is being taken in accordance with Governor Whitmer's Executive Order 2020-15, which allows electronic meetings for public bodies.
