Detroit to hold annual series of budget meetings to engage and inform the community
Detroit, MI -- The City of Detroit is inviting residents to attend a series of virtual budget meetings aimed at informing and engaging the public on the process and development of its budget. The first pair of virtual meetings is the Annual Public Budget Meetings where City departments present their proposed budgets for the next fiscal year. The two Public Budget meetings are scheduled for September 18 and 25. Starting October 10, the Office of Budget will hold its virtual Budget Priorities Forums in all 7 City Council districts to get resident input on the Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2025 recommended budget. Officials will give an overview of the proposed budget, share priority-setting challenges, and take comments. The forums are part of an ongoing effort to engage the public on the process and development of the City’s budget. See schedule of meetings and forums below:

Budget Priorities Forums for City Council Districts
The Budget Office within the City of Detroit Office of the Chief Financial Officer is preparing the Mayor’s Recommended Annual Budget for programs, services, and activities for Fiscal Year 2025 which starts July 1, 2024, and ends June 30, 2025. The budget will propose funding allocations for an estimated $2.4 billion in City programs, including an estimated $1.3 billion of general fund activities. It will be presented with the Four-Year Financial Plan to City Council in early March for their review and adoption.
