The City of Detroit is partnering with the Detroit Pistons to offer a Family Vaccination Day at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center this Saturday, May 1, from 9AM to 5PM with food, giveaways, and special appearances by Detroit Pistons legends Rick Mahorn and Earl Cureton.

Vaccine appointments for this event are available now by calling (313) 230-0505. The Pistons
Performance Center is located at 6201 Second Avenue in New Center, and parking is available inside the performance center parking structure located on Amsterdam Street.

"We are delighted to partner with the Detroit Pistons for this very special Family Vaccination Day,” said Denise Fair, Chief Public Health Officer. “We are giving Detroiters as many options as possible to take advantage of this life-saving vaccine because it remains the best tool we have for slowing the spread of COVID-19.”

Detroiters ages 16+ can make an appointment to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this
Saturday at the Pistons Performance Center (with staffing provided by Henry Ford Health) and be
scheduled at that time to receive their second dose in three weeks.

In addition to free food and giveaways, former “Bad Boy” Rick Mahorn will be on-site from 2:30PM-4:30PM and two-time NBA champion and native Detroiter Earl Cureton will lend his support from 10AM-1:30PM

“We are happy to assist the City of Detroit in its effort to get everyone vaccinated,” said Erika Swilley, Vice President of Community Relations for the Detroit Pistons. “We are lending our support to raise awareness and encourage Detroiters to follow the lead on what many of our players, coaches, and employees have already done: take advantage of this life-saving vaccine so life can get back to normal.”

The City of Detroit is offering Detroiters a range of options for getting vaccinated Mondays through
Fridays, including drive-through and extended hours at many sites across the city. Walk-ins are
welcome at all locations with no appointment required.

Detroiters may text their address to (313) 217-3732 to find the location and type of vaccine offered
nearest them, or visit detroitmi.gov/health, or call (313) 230-0505.
