If you recently swam at Belle Isle Beach over the weekend and are experiencing gastrointestinal illness symptoms of nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea or vomiting, call your personal physician if symptoms last more than 48 hours.

Based on the results of water sample testing conducted on July 10 by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and provided today to the Detroit Health Department, the Belle Isle Beach has closed until additional MDNR testing shows water quality has returned to safe levels. The recent MDNR testing showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria. Please avoid contact with the water in this area until further notice.
