We help improve the quality of life in every district.
The Department of Neighborhoods directly connects the City of Detroit with block clubs, community groups, businesses, faith and school leaders, and residents. With a 14-member team, including district and deputy managers for each City Council district, their focus is combating blight and enhancing neighborhoods. They engage thousands in major initiatives like Motor City Makeover and smaller efforts such as vacant lot clean-ups. Beyond that, our district and deputy managers assist in forming block clubs, drive community engagement in planning projects, address complaints, and educate residents on City programs and policies.
Each City Council district also has a District Business Liaison focused on helping neighborhood businesses grow and succeed. The business liaison helps businesses navigate City processes; connect to resources to promote growth; and improve the business environment in neighborhoods.
