The Detroit Board of Police Commissioners has scheduled meeting to be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 6:30 pm
The Board of Police of Commissioners was created in 1974 by City Charter, which was adopted by the vote of the people. The Charter vests broad supervisory authority over the Police Department in the eleven-member civilian Board of Police Commissioners.
The BOPC meets every week. Meetings are held at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters each Thursday at 3:00 pm except the second Thursday, when the community meetings are held at 6:30 pm. Sign up for the weekly agenda to get community meeting locations sent to you.
There is no salary. Police Commissioners serve as volunteers.
The BOPC is responsible for taking complaints about any employee of the Police Department. The Board’s investigative arm is called the Office of the Chief Investigator, or OCI. Click here for more information about OCI.
