RECENT UPDATES

Thank you to all students and community members who provided feedback in past community meetings and through the student survey!

The feedback received has been incorporated into a Cass Park Improvement Project Document that was presented to the Historic District Commission in August. While it did come close, the Plan was not approved because of some concerns mainly with lack of symmetry in the main pathway from Second Ave. The new plan (as seen above) includes changes, following the HDC recommendations, and will go before them again for a vote on October 8th, 2025.

PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

In 2026 this park will be receiving much needed improvements, through a $2.5 million City funded project.  The City follows an equity metric (more info at detroitmi.gov/parksplan) to determine when to fundraise and renovate a park across our system of 300+ parks.  And Cass Park is in the current phase to be improved.  Planning and engagement will begin in the fall 2024 and construction is likely to start next Spring season (2026).
