Construction work to begin on Monroe and Randolph Streetscape projects in Downtown Detroit
- Monroe Street closed to vehicular traffic for streetscape improvements
- Businesses remain open, pedestrian access to Monroe Street will be maintained for duration of project
- Monroe Streetscape improvements expected to be completed in 2026
- Randolph will remain open to vehicle traffic with lane closures and parking restrictions as needed

The City of Detroit and Greektown Neighborhood Partnership announced that the first phase of road closures in the downtown for two streetscape projects in the Bricktown and Greektown areas of Downtown Detroit.
Monroe Street between Randolph Street and the I-375 Service Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning on Tuesday, March 18 for the installation of the new streetscape, which is scheduled to be completed in summer 2026. The Monroe Streetscape is being led by the Greektown Neighborhood Partnership.
Randolph Street between Gratiot Ave and Jefferson Ave will remain open to vehicle traffic during streetscape construction with lane closures and parking restrictions. The Randolph Streetscape is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025 and is being completed by the City of Detroit Department of Public Works.
Businesses along Randolph and Monroe Streets will remain open during all phases of the project. Pedestrian access to Monroe Street and the greater Greektown will be maintained throughout the streetscape upgrades. Entrance and exit from the parking garage at Hollywood Casino at Greektown will be unaffected by this work. Greektown Casino parking garage will remain open and accessible from Macomb and Chrysler Service Drive entrances.
Visitors to Greektown are encouraged to rely on the abundance of parking normally available on side streets, surface parking lots and garages available in the area, which allow quick access to the Greektown district. The Greektown stop on the Downtown People Mover will also remain open during construction.
