DWSD is Here to Help – Water Assistance Programs
No one has to lose their water service
The Lifeline Plan
Are you experiencing poverty and need assistance with your water bill? The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) and community partners offer Water Assistance Programs for eligible households, including Detroit's income-based water affordability program — the Lifeline Plan.
Residents who are enrolled in or applied for an assistance program will continue in a moratorium. For other households with delinquent accounts and who have the ability to pay, the water shutoff moratorium was lifted on December 31, 2022.
Easy Pay Plan
If you are not low-income and have a past due balance, whether you’re a resident, business, faith-based organization or nonprofit, the DWSD EasyPay Plan is available. The plan is as easy as 1-2-3.
One, pay $10 down to enroll.
Two, have your past due balance spread over the next 36 months.
Three, make your monthly payments for your EasyPay and your monthly water, sewerage and drainage charges to keep your access to clean water and be protected from shutoff.
Also, with EasyPay there are no interest or fees!
