Learn about city government
- Review our reports – the budget and the capital plan touch every part of your neighborhood
- Join other City department community meetings – various City departments present major City service proposals to the community before adopting plans
- Follow Detroit Public Schools Community District, Wayne County Government, and other providers of important public services to you
Bring a friend to public budget meetings
- Revenue Estimating Conference meetings, every September and February: presentation of a local economic forecast and adoption of projected revenues for the annual budget
- Annual Public Budget Meeting, 3rd Thursday of every October: an informational session to overview major programs and services, and associated spending
- City Council District Budget Priorities Forums, every January, co-hosted by the Office of Budget and City Council members: a conversation in your district about spending priorities in the coming year
- City Council hearings on the Mayor’s Recommended budget, the month following the Mayor’s March 7 budget presentation, scheduled and hosted by the Detroit City Council.
- City Council Standing Committee on Budget, Finance, and Audit, Wednesdays at 1PM (while City Council is in session), Council Member Fred Durhal III, Chairperson: the Body responsible for review and approval of official budget and finance-related actions.
