Committee on Race and Equality (CORE)
The Committee on Race and Equality’s (CORE) mission is to safeguard equality and equity, increase awareness, and celebrate the strength of diversity within the Detroit Police Department (DPD) and the Community.
CORE will provide a safe-haven where members can constructively dialogue in a forum that is non-judgmental, intended to preserve the dignity of each member by promoting honesty, inclusiveness, and courage to facilitate positive change.
CORE is an Advisory Committee to the Chief of Police which was established in 2016 as a resource for Detroit Police Department employees to voice their concerns regarding discriminatory practices.
Under the leadership of Chief James E. White of the Detroit Police Department, CORE will continue to play a vital role in building a safe environment for Detroit Police Department members through inclusion and equity. With a focus on deepening the trust through transparency and engagement, it is goal of CORE to support positive change while deepening the relationship with the community in which we serve.
CORE continues to be a resource for all Detroit Police Department members as we grow in order to advance the work of Detroit Police Department.
