Detroit Health Department to Host Biggest, Healthiest Block Party in Detroit

The Detroit Health Department’s 2nd Annual Block Party will take place on Saturday, September 9, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine, on John R Street adjacent to the Detroit Health Department at 100 Mack Avenue.

“We are inviting all Detroiters to have some fun and join us at the biggest, healthiest Block Party in Detroit,” said Denise Fair Razo, Chief Public Health Officer. “We want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to get reacquainted with all the services the Detroit Health Department offers to promote healthy living. During the event, vaccines for all ages will be available plus reproductive health testing, free health screenings, and more. There will be giveaways, free food, free smoke detectors will be provided on a first-come first-served basis, a live DJ, dancing with Fast Freddie, a hula hoop contest, and fun for the entire family!”

Every team within the Detroit Health Department will be represented, which now includes CeaseFire Detroit, a community-based violence prevention initiative. The Detroit Health Department is also teaming up with valued community partners to produce an event that will be even bigger than last year, with even more providers offering health care products and services.
