Following the success of its inaugural conference, this year’s event will feature an expanded lineup of expert speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering professional growth and innovation in fire service. Attendees will gain valuable insights into emerging industry trends, leadership strategies, and critical safety protocols.

“The Professional Development Conference is an invaluable opportunity for fire service personnel to engage with industry leaders, share best practices, and strengthen their skills,” said Executive Fire Commissioner Chuck Simms. “We are committed to providing our firefighters and emergency responders with the tools they need to excel in their careers and better serve the Detroit community.”

“We are working to make this year’s conference stronger than ever and hope to draw first responders from across the region,” said Anthony Watts, Director of Special Projects, who is leading the planning for the conference again this year. “By expanding our programming and enhancing networking opportunities, we aim to create an experience that equips attendees with the latest advancements and best practices in the fire service industry.”

“Creating spaces like this to learn and collaborate is vital to ensuring first responders in our region have the most up-to-date information as they continue to serve and protect residents,” said Commissioner Simms. “Our commitment to professional development not only benefits our firefighters and emergency personnel but also strengthens the safety and well-being of the communities we serve.”
The conference is open to all fire service professionals, emergency responders, and public safety personnel. Attendees can expect sessions covering a wide range of topics, including:

  • Leadership and career development
  • Fireground operations and safety
