City of Detroit to so-sponsor Detroit Nights at local theatre venues with discount tickets

2025

The City of Detroit Office of Arts, Culture & Entrepreneurship (Detroit ACE) is announcing ACE Nights Around Town, an initiative designed to encourage Detroit audiences to visit landmark venues – the Fisher Theatre, the Detroit Opera and the Fox Theatre – to enjoy a diverse mix of performances paired at a discount.

The series, which began in June with ACE Family Night at the Fisher for “The Wiz,” which sold more Detroit tickets than in the past 20 years, lands again at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7 at the Detroit Opera with a special double-feature presentation.

The first work, Highway 1, USA, a one-act opera by William Grant Still—widely regarded as the Dean of African American composers—was praised by The New York Times as a “one-act stunner.” Set inside the kitchen of a modest home attached to a gas station, the piece highlights how African American culture has shaped the sound of America’s national identity. The second piece, Down in the Valley, is a one-act folk opera by Jewish émigré composer Kurt Weill that blends traditional American songs into a moving tale of love and loss.

Detroit Discount tickets for the opera performances are available for $25 at bit.ly/3KsYBlU.

ACE Nights Around Town continues at the Fisher Theatre for the premiere of Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen, part of Broadway in Detroit’s programming focused on expanding musical development and youth opportunities throughout the city. This marks the third ACE partnership with Broadway in Detroit. After the performance, Detroit ACE will join the Motown Museum to co-host an exclusive Q&A with cast members for discount ticket-holders, who will be admitted on a first-bought, first-registered basis.

Detroit Discount Tickets for “Hell’s Kitchen” can be purchased at bit.ly/4pOiIRm using the promotion code CITY.

Seats are $50 for mid-main floor, mezzanine and front loge and $35 for rear main floor, balcony and rear loge.

The final ACE Nights Around Town is at the Fox Theatre for the premiere of the beloved holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street by 313 Presents. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 16. The ACE team will greet guests in the lobby at 6:30 p.m., where they will distribute gifts to the first 200 attendees.

Detroit Discount tickets for Miracle are available at 40 percent off at bit.ly/48fQvpV.
