Episode 5
Sheri Burton is a Lifelong Detroiter, a proud United Auto Workers retiree, and a Precinct Delegate.
She is currently the president of the Midwest Civic Council of Block Clubs and Neighborhood Association and the recipient of grants from the Michigan Environmental Council, Detroit Future City, and Rocket Community Investment Fund. She was one of the nominees in Michigan Community Resources' "The Power of One Dedicated Women 2018 and 2021."
She is famous for insightful quotes that often come to her spontaneously. Two such gems are: "My name does not have to be on it because my heart is in it." And "I understand passion, but I do not understand aggression."
In many ways, these two exemplify her work ethos and love for her community. As we learn about Ms. Burton and the Midwest Civic Council of Block Clubs, we also ask her what it means to be a good neighbor in an area with prominent industrial use.
