What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that affects both children and adults. During an asthma attack, the airways inside your lungs will swell, and you can experience wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing.

Asthma Triggers Include: 

Common asthma triggers include dust mites, smoke, air pollution, cockroaches, pet dander, mold, and allergies. 

Support with Asthma: 

The Detroit Health Department Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) program provides support in addressing asthma for children, teens, and young adults under 26 years of age. CSHCS can help you or your child get medical care and equipment and provides care coordination, case management, referrals to community organizations and resources based on client need.
