The City of Detroit has completed the W Jefferson Streetscape Project in the Fall of 2025.

The Rosa Parks Boulevard and W Jefferson Avenue Improvement project aims to create multi modal access to the new Ralph C Wilson Jr Centennial Park and the Detroit Riverfront for the greater community.

What changes happened?

The proposal reduced the previous five-lane road to now two travel lanes, a center turn lane, and (2) on-street parking lanes. Safety features included the addition of several raised crosswalks, and flashing beacons to make pedestrians more visible, and the addition of a protected cycle track and curb extensions to support cyclists and shorten crossings. These improvements are designed to encourage more safer walking to lead to the Ralph C Wilson Jr Centennial Park// Riverfront.

Where?

W Jefferson between Fort Street to Yzerman Dr.
