City offers Respite Locations and Warming Centers to help residents escape the cold

With frigid temperatures impacting weather conditions, the City is reminding residents of available warming centers and respite locations to provide relief from the cold. The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is activating an overnight respite location at 13130 Woodward Avenue starting Jan. 19 beginning at 2 p.m. through Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.

Additionally, residents can visit any Detroit recreation center or Detroit Public Library branch during regular operating hours for a place to stay safe and warm. Detroit recreation centers and public libraries will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. To see operating hours for rec centers, go to detroitmi.gov/recreation.
