Mayor Duggan statement on University of Michigan approval for residential tower
Statement from Mayor Mike Duggan -
"Thank you to the UM Board of Regents for their unanimous approval of 313 new housing units for the City of Detroit.
And congratulations to Chris Ilitch and Stephen Ross for leading with housing in the District Detroit development.
Detroit has added 7000 people a year the last two years, which means we need 3,500 new housing units each year to prevent our residents from being displaced. Detroit has been achieving that goal, and with 300 more units, we took a big step toward continuing that pace in future years.
And it’s truly great to see the University of Michigan’s long-term commitment to the City of Detroit!"
