Community invited to the Health, Safety & Emergency Preparedness Fair at Kemeny Recreation Center on Saturday, June 21

The community is invited to the Health, Safety & Emergency Preparedness Fair, presented by the Detroit Local Emergency Planning Committee and Marathon, on Saturday, August 21, from 11 am – 2 pm at Kemeny Recreation Center, located at 2260 S. Fort Street in Detroit.  Learn about how to protect your family and community with important emergency preparedness, health, and safety information, health screenings, and demonstrations from Detroit Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the Detroit Police Department, the Detroit Fire Department, and private partners including Marathon and DTE.  In addition, there will be a Secretary of State mobile office from which residents may apply for a Real ID and renew driver’s licenses and state IDs, and the Michigan Humane Society will provide low-cost pet vaccines and free pet food distribution.  Residents interested in the Michigan Humane Society services must call 866-MHUMANE and press 2 to schedule an appointment during the fair.

The Fair will include safety and emergency preparedness demonstrations and resources, CPR demonstrations, blood pressure checks, DPD Bomb Squad, Children’s Gun Safety Information, DTE live power line safety demonstrations, fire suppression demonstrations, and residents will be able to sign up for emergency notifications from the City of Detroit and Marathon.  In addition, there will be children’s activities including a Bouncy House and a playscape, and kids and adults alike can enjoy free refreshments.
