City of Detroit to host virtual entrepreneurship training sessions for fine and performing artists to aid their business and brand protection

2025

The City of Detroit Office of Arts, Culture and Entrepreneurship (Detroit ACE) will host two virtual training sessions designed to help artists navigate the business side of their creative careers.

These sessions, which will be held at 6 p.m. on March 18 and March 25 via Zoom, will provide invaluable insights from industry expert Michael Everett Hall, an attorney and entrepreneur specializing in entertainment and intellectual property law. The training sessions will focus on the following key topics:

  • Do You Need a Manager? Understanding when and why an artist might need professional management and how to choose the right representation.
  • Protecting Your Brand– Essential steps to safeguard an artist’s name, creative work and intellectual property.
  • Artists as Businesses– Strategies for treating an artistic career as a business, including financial planning, contract negotiation and brand development.

These virtual sessions are open to all artists looking to strengthen their business acumen and protect their creative assets.
