Two City of Detroit Arts Alleys plan family friendly fall festivals September 20 Passage to Wellbeing and Burrell Trail Alleys host concerts, food and fun
Two City-sponsored Arts Alleys will celebrate the arrival of fall with events featuring live music, food trucks and special guests. The Passage to WellBeing’s first Fall event is an extravaganza featuring local rap artist Big Herk, Detroit’s own Queen of Blues Thornetta Davis and special guests Angela Davis and Rita Renee.
The event also will feature Alley stakeholder and community leader Ms. Tammy Black debuting her new song “I Am Light.” “This song was created to be enjoyed in many ways, whether for dancing, relaxation, or simply listening,” she said. “It carries inspiration, calming energy and healing vibes. Music is such a powerful tool for mental health: it helps reduce stress, uplift the spirit, restore balance and connect us with one another.

The Passage to Wellbeing Alley is located between Manistique and Phillip streets and between Korte and Scripps streets. The concerts will begin at 3 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair for seating.
In other news, get your fans ready! Alkebu-Lan Village is hosting a Boots On The Ground fundraiser that includes dinner, dancing and optional western dress. DJ Ray O’Shay will provide the music. The event begins at 6 p.m. on September 20 at 7701 Harper Avenue on the Burrell Trail Alley. For tickets and more information call 313-921-1616. These alleys were two of nine that were part of the $5.4 million Arts Alley initiative completed by the Office of Arts, Culture and Entrepreneurship as part of Mayor Mike Duggan’s Blight to Beauty campaign.
