City of Detroit, community partners mark grand opening of iconic bandshell in Palmer Park with musical celebration
City of Detroit officials, park supporters and area residents celebrated the Aug. 23 opening of the new bandshell at Palmer Park, the city’s second largest park. The bandshell was originally at the historic State Fairgrounds. Visitors will spot pieces of the original structure thoughtfully incorporated in the bandshell design.
This multimillion-dollar project also includes new restrooms, support structures for event staff and equipment, a new paved parking lot with 60 spaces, and walking paths that connect people to the rest of Palmer Park.
In partnership with Detroit Parks Coalition and People for Palmer Park, the City of Detroit is celebrating the grand opening with a concert featuring Marcus Elliot, Anjelic, Bryce LP, Charles Scales and DJ Fingers, hosted by Dwele.
