The City of Detroit's Planning & Development Department owns surplus properties in District 6 in the Core City and Woodbridge neighborhoods. The City proposes to sell 5+ acres of property for a sum of $250,000 to the Pope Francis Center to provide housing and services to Detroit's homeless population. The Pope Francis Center will include approximately 40 units of housing and will include health and wellness amenities for the population it serves. Pending council approval, construction on the site would start in Q1 2022 to be completed in 2024.
