Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the 1925 Ossian Sweet Incident and Trials

Join us for a powerful two-day community event honoring one of the most pivotal moments in Detroit’s civil rights history. As we mark the 100th anniversary of the Ossian Sweet case, “An Evening with History: The Ossian Sweet Story” will take place in the newly completed Educational Plaza, located beside the Historic Sweet House at 2905 Garland (between Charlevoix and E. Vernor Ave.).

Kevin Boyle, National Book Award winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist, in conversation about his acclaimed book Arc of Justice

Daniel Baxter, recipient of the Preservation Wayne Education and Preservation Award, sharing reflections on growing up in the Sweet House and leading its preservation
