Detroit Community Emergency Response Team Training
The City of Detroit Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) facilitates a 4-day training course for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers. The next CERT training is on the following days:
Thursday, August 8, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Friday, August 9, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Saturday, August 10, 10 am - 2 pm
Saturday, August 17, 10 am - 2 pm
The free CERT training includes disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), how to bandage wounds, basic medical treatment such as how to treat burns, fractures, strains, and hypothermia, and other life-saving techniques. The training is conducted by the Detroit Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Detroit Fire Department, and Detroit EMS.
