"Detroit Police Commission Past and Present: Detroit’s Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement in Historical Context” jointly organized by the Damon J. Keith Center and the Levin Center at Wayne Law. The virtual panel will hear from Former Senator Carl Levin, U.S. District Court Judge (ret.) Avern Cohn, Police Commissioner Evette Griffie (District 2), and Tawana Petty, Director, Data Justice Program, Detroit Community Technology Project to discuss the evolution of the Detroit Police Commission and community concerns with respect to policing; the changing role of civilian oversight of the police in Detroit; and current issues facing the Commission.
