How to Apply for a License

Marijuana License Renewal

All marijuana business licensees must submit a renewal application electronically at least 120 days prior to the expiration of a license issued by the city of Detroit (All marijuana licenses expire September 30th of each year). The renewal application will go live May 15, 2023. Once available, please access your respective renewal application below. 

 

Unlimited License

(Medical Marijuana Provisioning Center, Grower, Processor, Secured Transporter and Safety Compliance)

Limited License

(Retail, Lounge, and Micro-Business)

Steps to Obtain a License

Getting started

Review the steps below to start operating an adult-use or medical marijuana facility.

Before you apply for a license, you must complete the Buildings, Safety, Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) Zoning and Building Permit Process.

Once you receive the required zoning and permits you may complete the following steps.

 

 

 

01Get approved by the State of Michigan

Get prequalified by the State of Michigan by filling out the below application

02Tax Clearance
  • All individual members/stakeholders/officers of the entity and the entity itself should submit an individual clearance application in addition to the business clearance for the corporation/LLC (if applicable)
  • Please indicate that you are applying for a marijuana license in your application
