State Fair Transit Center

Information about the proposed transit center at the State Fairgrounds.

ddot state fair transit hub new location

As construction continues on the new State Fair Transit Center in the area of Woodward Avenue and Eight Mile Road, the current transit hub will be moved approximately 500 feet north on Woodward Avenue to an existing parking lot. The location change takes effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.

Bus shelters and directional signage will be added to the area for passenger layovers and for ease of navigation. DDOT routes impacted by the construction will be 4-Woodward, 12-Conant, 17-Eight Mile, 30-Livernois, and 54-Wyoming.

The location change will not affect service. Riders transferring buses will still be able to complete their transfers as normal. Riders who walk or take other transportation will use the new location, which is about a two-minute walk north on Woodward.

FAQs

Will this affect my trip?

Most likely not. If you are transferring between buses, you will just be waiting in a different location. If you walk or take other transportation to the State Fair Transit Hub, you’ll need to arrive or depart about 500 feet to the north on Woodward Avenue. The scheduled bus service will not change.

How far will I have to walk?

If you normally walk to the State Fair Transit Hub, the new location will be located north on Woodward Avenue about 500 feet, the length of an average city block. This takes the average adult about two minutes to walk.

Will the new location be ADA accessible?

Yes. The City of Detroit is working to make the new site easy to use for anyone who uses a mobility assistance device.

How long will I have to use this new location?

Approximately 18 months. We plan to close this location when we open the new State Fair Transit Center.

Will this affect any other transit centers or stops?

No. This temporary hub will not affect any other locations.

Will this temporary location be safe?

DDOT is working to implement lighting and security to make this location as safe as possible. Transit Police will continue to patrol the area regularly.
