Did you know that on top of picking up your bulk trash every other week at the curb, the City of Detroit provides a handful of places where City of Detroit residents can take their bulk, yard, and household hazardous debris for free? We do! Below you will find three buttons that when clicked will take you to more information based on the type of debris that you need to drop off. Please remember to bring a valid driver’s license, state ID, or Detroit ID with you! Don't know your provider or can't go to the drop off site? The City will pick up bulk or construction waste for $40 per cubic yard. Payment can be made by credit card, cashier’s check, or money order please call (313) 876-0004 for more details! If the dumping in your neighborhood isn’t yours please report illegal dumping with the Improve Detroit app or call the BSEED Environmental Control at (313) 876-0426.

Saturday, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $65 for first 2,000 lbs.; $50 for each additional 2,000 lbs.
Does NOT accept: Tires, paints, liquid or hazardous waste
Hazardous Waste Drop-off:

Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Every 4th Saturday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Accepts: TVs, pharmaceuticals, motor oil, paint, batteries, fluorescent light bulks, pesticides, etc.

Residential Pickup Services
Bins should be placed at the curb of home by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day of collection and no earlier than 6 p.m. the day before. Do NOT place in vacant lots or alleyways! You can text street address to 313-800-7905 to sign up for weekly trash, yard waste, bulk waste, and recycling reminders!

Up to 2 cubic yards (about the size of 2 stoves) of items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, carpeting, clothes, etc.

Place items at the curb in separate piles, do not intermingle items.

All items should be under 4 feet in length and width, and weigh less than 50 lbs.

Cut carpet into strips up to 4 feet wide and secured in a roll.

Remove doors from appliances and properly dispose of refrigerants.

Leaves, grass, clippings, twigs, and tree branches less than 2 inches in diameter

Don't know your provider or can't go to the drop off site? The City can pickup bulk or construction waste for $40 per cubic yard. Payment can be made by credit card, cashier’s check, or money order. Pickup will occur within 24 hours of receipt of payment.

Failing to comply with waste disposal rules and/or illegal dumping can result in fines ranging from $100 to $10,000, vehicle confiscation, and a criminal warrant issued for littering.
