Department of Appeals and Hearings
The City of Detroit's BLIGHT Court and Administrative Appeal Tribunal
The Department of Appeals and Hearings (DAH) conducts 25,000 hearings annually on "quality of life" violations aimed at ensuring that property in Detroit is maintained free of blight. The DAH also serves as the appeal court for citizens impacted by certain administrative decisions made by other city departments. Property owners can also pay and inquire about blight tickets at the DAH.
DAH Digital Court is Open
The DAH is now safely providing services digitally and remotely to protect members of the public and our staff. Doing business with the DAH, including attending hearings, can be done remotely and safely from your home or business.. The DAH still provides some in-person services in Suite 106 of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center but we want users to stay safe and do business with the DAH online.
Holiday Closing
Department of Appeals and Hearings offices will be closed from December 24, 2024, to January 1, 2025. Please note, the department will be working remotely on December 23, 2024; January 2, 2025; and January 3, 2025, and can be reached via phone (313 224 0098) or email [email protected] from 8:30am to 4:30pm for questions, concerns, payments, etc. Our offices will return to normal business hours on January 6, 2025.
