The Detroit Fire Department is proud to partner with SaveMIHeart for the 10th Annual SaveMIHeart Conference, Pathways to Progress, taking place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Detroit. The full-day event, open to medical professionals, first responders, students, survivors, and community members, focuses on advancing cardiac arrest response and strengthening community health outcomes.

Registration is now open and will close on Friday, May 30, 2025. Interested participants are encouraged to register at savemiheart.org or directly via Eventbrite.

“This conference is a testament to how far we've come—and how far we can still go—in improving cardiac arrest survival through innovation, education, and collaboration,” said Dr. Robert Dunne, Medical Director of the Detroit Fire Department. “As a HEARTSafe Community, Detroit is leading the way in community-centered emergency care and we’re proud to help shape that future.”

The conference will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, and survivor stories, with EMS CE credits provided by Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Keynote speaker Dr. Peter Antevy, Chief Medical Officer of Brevard County Fire Rescue, will deliver a presentation on redefining cardiac arrest response and recovery.

“Detroit’s HEARTSafe Community designation reflects our city's commitment to saving lives by improving how we respond to cardiac emergencies—from bystander CPR training to data-driven EMS care,” said Executive Fire Commissioner Chuck Simms. “We’re honored to host this important event that brings together leading voices in emergency medicine and public health.”

The conference will close with a spotlight session titled Tale of Two HEARTSafe Communities: The Detroit and Holland Experience, highlighting the impactful work taking place across Michigan.
