How do I request a Fire Report?

Customers may request a fire report by emailing [email protected].

You will be directed to fill out a form for your request, be sure to read the form carefully and attach all requested documentation. All fire report requests must verify identity with Valid ID and residency documents (lease, bill, DHS paperwork etc).  All fire report requests made via email must complete and attach a fire report request from.

You may call 313.596.2954 for emergency circumstances fire report requests, Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm.

How do I pay my bill?

We have updated our payment options.  You may pay on the DivDat kiosk network at any kiosk location.  You will need your invoice in order to use this option, please be sure to have it with you.  Customers may also pay their fees on the mobile app or using our online payment tool.

We are no longer taking in person or mailed in payments at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters. Please utilize one of the payment options above.  For questions regarding payments please call 313-596-2963 and leave a voicemail, or email [email protected]

What do I need to do to sell fireworks?

How do I renew my Certificate of Fitness Card?

How do I renew or obtain a new Food Truck Permit

How do I obtain my Annual Fire Permit & Inspection / Business License Fire Clearance Process?



For all customers needing to obtain a Fire Clearance to apply for or renew their business license, there are several items that need to be completed before a clearance is issued.

All permit fees owed must be paid to date, a fire inspection must be scheduled and passed, and a copy of the Annual fire Permit must be in the business's possession.  Please follow the steps below in order to address each of these requirements for your respective business/s.  Keep in mind that a lot of our processes have been updated throughout the pandemic to better serve our customers, so please review the below to ensure you have the most updated information.


  1. Permit Fees:  Annual permit fees are assessed every year.  Invoices are mailed out to the business address or to a billing address indicated by the customer.   If you need a copy of your invoice, you may email [email protected] to request one or call 313.596.2963.  Permit fees must be paid before clearance will be issued to BSEED.
  2. Annual Fire Inspection:  A yearly fire inspection must be passed in order for business to apply for or renew their business license.  To schedule your fire inspection, you may call 313.596.2954 or email [email protected].  Please keep in mind that permit fees being paid before the inspection will expedite your clearance being issued to BSEED.
  3. Fire Permit:  A copy of your Fire Permit should be displayed visible within your business, and it must be updated annually.  Once your fees are paid, email [email protected] for a digital copy of your permit, print it out, and affix where other such documents are displayed.
