The City of Detroit has completed the Joseph Campau Streetscape Project in the Fall of 2019.

Joseph Campau serves as a vital connection from Jefferson Ave to the Riverfront as a thriving business corridor. This project aimed to enhanced mobility, particularly to the riverfront, while creating a visually appealing and pedestrian-friendly space. The improvements encourage active sidewalk life, increase foot traffic for both existing and new businesses, and contribute to a stronger sense of community.

What changes happened?

This project included roadway resurfacing, pavement markings, furnishings, a 2-way protected cycle track for bicycles, improved lighting, landscaping and connection opportunities to the Detroit Riverwalk. The improvements will better support all forms of transportation including walking, biking, riding transit and taking a car.
