Livernois Streetscape Project

Project Details

Livernois: Open for Business

Livernois between Margareta Street and 8 Mile is under construction. When complete, Livernois will feature new roadway pavement, underground infrastructure, new extended sidewalks, better lighting and landscaping, center turn lane, removal of the median, bike lanes and other elements that will further make the Avenue of Fashion a beautiful welcoming corridor.

What is Going On?

Construction for Livernois roadway improvements between Margareta Street and 8 Mile.

When is the project happening?

Construction is underway right now. Record levels of rain this year have resulted in unplanned construction delays on the Livernois streetscape project. Work crews are now out working six days a week to complete the project.

What Changes Will I See?

This project will include new roadway pavement, underground infrastructure, new extended sidewalks, removal of the median, bike lanes, better lighting, landscaping and other elements that will further make Livernois a beautiful welcoming corridor.

Why are These Changes Being Made?

The goal of a complete streetscape project is to achieve a beautiful corridor where neighborhood business can thrive and where people feel safe and welcomed. The improvements will better support all forms of transportation including walking, biking, riding transit and taking a car.

How do I get around during construction?

Livernois will remain open to traffic and all businesses will have maintained pedestrian access.

We've rolled out a free park-and-ride shuttle makes it easy to shop Livernois businesses:

Weekday shuttles: The Detroit Department of Transportation launched a pilot Livernois shuttle to make it easy for shoppers to park and move up and down the Avenue of Fashion corridor during construction.

The shuttles run from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays.  It stops at Livernois & Cambridge, Livernois & 8 Mile and Livernois & Pembroke.
