Home to one of the most beloved sledding hills in Detroit, Balduck Park is one of thirteen Regional Parks in the City of Detroit park system.  Located at 18151 East Warren in District 4, the 56-acre site is divided by Chandler Park Drive into a more active South end and a natural North end.  The South end features a playground, baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields, walking path, and the sledding hill.  The North end also has a playground, picnic shelter, dog park, and trails through the natural forest.

BALDUCK PARK IMPROVEMENTS- UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Timeline for Balduck Park Improvements

As part of the Strategic Neighborhood Fund (SNF) initiative, the City of Detroit Planning and Development Department created the East Warren/Cadieux Neighborhood Framework Plan. The Framework Plan outlined priority improvement areas for the park.  Parks & Recreation collaboratively designed a concept plan with the community in early 2022.  Balduck received just over $413,000 from SNF to make improvements to the sledding hill, South playground and dog park. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided $600,000 in funding for the remainder of the work, including improved connectivity and pathways.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April and will be continuing throughout 2023.  Over the duration of the project, the construction will cover the areas shown below and walkways installed throughout the park.  However, different areas will be impacted at different times.  There may be temporary disruption to normal park use, we aim to minimize disturbances and provide fencing/signage for public awareness.
