Patton Recreation Center
Located in District 6 of southwest Detroit, Patton has served Southwest Detroiters since 1950. Patton Recreation Center opened as a small building with a lobby, craft room & restrooms. It serviced the new indoor / outdoor community pool, the first of its kind in the nation. The Recreation Center sits on 80+ acres of parkland located in both Detroit and Dearborn, first named Baby Creek Park as a nod to the Baubee (Babie) family, the original French landowners in the area. In 1946, the parkland was re-named to honor WWII US Military Commander General George S. Patton.
