Detroit Animal Care and Control

The mission of DetroitAnimal Care and Control is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents and visitors of the City of Detroit from animal bites, zoonotic disease, or traffic hazards; to maintain the highest standards of humane animal sheltering; to promote the placement of animals into homes; and to encourage responsible pet ownership through education, enforcement, and community partnership.

All services are available daily including lost dog identification, licensing, adoptions & more! 

Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) will be closed to the public on Monday, December 24, 2018 (Christmas Eve) and Tuesday, December 25, 2018 (Christmas Day) and Monday, December 31, 2018 (New Years Eve) and Tuesday, January 1, 2019 (New Years Day).

DACC will continue emergency services on these days. To report a stray animal, call 313-224-6356. 

Detroit Animal Care and Control recommends that residents call 911 if they feel a dog is posing an immediate threat to their safety or the safety of others.If you are not in danger and are calling from a safe place, please call Detroit Animal Care and Control at 313-224-6356 to report stray or tethered dogs.
