How to schedule a Rental Inspection

Third Party Inspection for 1 or 2 Family Dwelling Only: Schedule inspections with one of the approved third party vendors listed here.

Note: The following outlines the steps to request an inspection for a 1 or 2 Family Dwelling that has been registered online as a rental property using your eLAPs account. Multi-family units cannot be scheduled online.

Inspections may be requested ONLY AFTER the Certificate of Registration of Rental Property has been issued and the inspection fees have been paid.

To request the inspection, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Login to your eLAPS account.
  2. Go to ‘My Records’.
  3. Expand the section labeled ‘Code Enforcement’ to see your records.
  4. Select the Record Number for the address that requires an inspection. The Status of that record must be ‘Inspection Fees Paid’.
  5. The system will open the Record in a new screen.
  6. Expand the ‘Record Info’ section to see the available options.
  7. Select the ‘Inspections’ option.
  8. The option to request an inspection will be available.
  9. Click on ‘‘REQUEST an INSPECTION”.
  10. The system will display a series of screen that will allow you to pick a date for an inspection and allow you to provide additional information for the Inspector.
  11. An Inspection Type will display. Click on the ‘Continue’ button. If there are no Inspection Types listed, please verify that your property has been issued a Certificate of Registration and the inspection fees have been paid.
  12. Follow the instructions to complete the series of screens. Once completed, you will be able to see the inspection and view the details by clicking on the ‘Actions’ option.

The inspection will be displayed in the ‘Inspection’ section.  To cancel or reschedule, please follow the steps within that function.

If further instruction is needed, please contact the Property Maintenance Division at (313) 628-2451 or email [email protected]
