The Electrical Inspection Team of BSEED's Construction Division is responsible for conducting inspections of permitted work, periodic inspections of buildings, and Electrical Licensing examinations. The City of Detroit issues trades permits to protect the public by ensuring that work is being performed by qualified and licensed people and meets the code standards.
Effective April 2024: The 2023 National Electrical Code and Michigan Part 8 Rules were adopted by the State of Michigan, and thus on the same date, will be enforced in the City of Detroit. Due to this new adoption, any electrical permits issued on or after April 2024, will be held to the 2023 National Electrical Code and Part 8 Rules.
