Safe Routes to School FAQs
SRTS grants are available to all schools with at least one grade in the K-12 range. Whether a school is public, private, charter, or tribal, they may apply. Anyone with a passion for children's health and safety may be involved in the application process, including but not limited to teachers, school administrators, parents, students, school transportation directors, bike groups, nonprofits, neighborhood associations, and law enforcement.
Phase 1 - 2018

Phase 2 - 2019
+ Noble, Young, Garvey, Emerson, Holmes, Edison, Marquette, Durfee, Sampson-Webber
Phase 3 - 2024 (to be constructed 2024-25)
+ Bagley, Bennett, Dixon, Dossin, Earhart, Henderson, Neinas, Pasteur, Schulz, Glazer, Loving, and University Prep
Phase 4 (in planning process)
+ Davison, Gardner, Keidan, Mann, Osborn, Thirkell, Thurgood Marshall
Infrastructure eligible improvements:
+ Sidewalk repairs
+ ADA ramps and other accessibility improvements
+ Pavement markings (striping, crosswalk markings, etc.)
+ Improved crosswalks
+ Trail improvements
+ Bicycle lanes
+ Traffic diversion improvements
+ Traffic calming/speed reduction
Non-infrastructure eligible items:
+ Student pedestrian & bicycle safety education
+ Activities to encourage walking & biking to school
+ Walk/bike to school groups (e.g. walking school bus)
+ Volunteer hours
+ Bike racks
