The Detroit Fire Investigation Division, a joint task force between the Detroit Police and Fire Departments, is seeking assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest in connection with an arson on Detroit’s West Side. May 12, 2026, the Detroit Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 1800 block of Eason Street, on Detroit’s West Side. Crews responded, extinguished the fire, and thankfully no one was injured. Investigators were able to gather video of the suspect, who is seen approaching the rear of the home with a bag, and then running away once the fire started. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 40 to 50 years old, between 5’8” and 6’3”, short hair, wearing a blue jacket and brown pants. A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect responsible for this fire.
