City of Detroit Construction and Demolition Department launches “Neighborhood Safety Week,” highlighting demolition and securing work across Detroit
- Weeklong series of interactive events showcasing demolition and securing work in action
- Residents invited to experience live demonstrations, community engagement, and career opportunities
- Initiative highlights the City’s ongoing work to improve public safety and strengthen neighborhoods
The City of Detroit Construction and Demolition Department (CDD) will host Neighborhood Safety Week from Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17.
Neighborhood Safety Week highlights the essential role demolition and securing play in protecting public safety, removing blight, and strengthening neighborhoods across Detroit. Through a week of coordinated community engagement, residents will have the opportunity to see this work up close, connect directly with CDD teams, and better understand how these efforts impact their communities.
This marks the first time the department is combining two signature initiatives, Demo Week and Securing Week, into one coordinated week of activity. These events have historically been held separately and are designed to highlight the work and impact of department teams while strengthening engagement with the community.
“This work is about keeping Detroiters safe and making neighborhoods stronger,” said Director Tim Palazzolo, Construction and Demolition Department. “Whether it’s removing dangerous structures or securing vacant homes, both play a critical role in reducing blight and improving quality of life. Neighborhood Safety Week gives residents a chance to see that work up close and connect directly with our team.”
This work supports the City’s broader focus on public safety, neighborhood revitalization, and expanding economic opportunity for Detroit residents.
