The Climate Action Division tracks progress towards meeting Detroit’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals. The Division works across state, regional and local partners to support projects that reduce Detroit’s carbon footprint. ​

Project Updates

  • Working with SEMCOG Regional Partners
    • Detroit is one of the units of government withing the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments actively working on the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan. ​ For more information visit Southeast Michigan Healthy Climate Plan website and sign up for updates.
  • Coordinating with the State of Michigan (EGLE and Climate & Energy Office) ​
    • The State of Michigan published the MI Healthy Climate Plan in April 2022, which outlies priorities for the entire state. Through this priorities, Detroit works to fund programs at the local level. ​ For more information visit MI Healthy Climate Plan website and sign up for updates. ​

Sustainability Action Agenda Update - 2021​​

The Agenda is a roadmap to create a more sustainable city, focused on 4 themes: Healthy Thriving People, Affordable Quality Homes, Clean Connected Neighborhoods, Equitable Green City.
