Phase 2 Information

Current Status: As of May 2024, roof replacements for Renew Detroit's Phase 2 have begun, Window replacements will follow as the final repair before program sunset.

Background: The Renew Detroit team finished its Phase 2 application review in July 2023, conditionally selecting 1,000+ homeowners to receive an essential repair in the program's second phase. Renew Detroit staff performed on-site home assessments throughout the summer and fall of 2023, ensuring that the conditionally selected homes both required a roof replacement and also that a roof replacement could be completed safely without endangering the structure of the home or the individuals in the home.  Homes with up to code and new roofs/gutter systems will be reassessed in the Summer of 2024 to determine eligibility for window replacements.

Renew Detroit is first and foremost a roof program, roofs are our priority. If we determine the home requires a roof, that will be the priority repair. As a reminder, Phase 2 is designed to provide roof replacements or windows for single family and duplex homes only.
