Notice:

The Detroit City Council voted on April 30, 2024 to amend the ordinance that governs the Secondary Street Sign process. These changes will become effective upon publication in Detroit Legal News. Currently, the amendment has not been published. The Historic Designation Advisory Board (HDAB) will continue to update the Secondary Street Sign website with the latest information.

The amendments address the following:

  • Change the application submission cycle from July to December to January through June of each calendar year.

The 2024 official application form is available on HDAB’s website and will be available through the Clerk’s Office after publication. Please note, while the application is available online, applications can only be submitted AFTER the publication of the amendment in Detroit Legal News. This date is tentative, but it is anticipated to happen in May. Applicants can start the application process, but applications can only be officially accepted after the amendment is published. We highly encourage interested applicants to reach out to HDAB staff ([email protected] | 313.224.3487) prior to application submission to ensure the proposed honoree and application materials meet eligibility requirements.
