The number of employed Detroiters has surged past the 230,000 mark for the first time in a decade, according to July employment statistics just released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In July – the most recent month for which numbers available – 230,655 Detroiters were employed.

The City of Detroit Public Health Emergency Preparedness is Looking For Volunteers for Thursday, September 19.

The Detroit Department of Transportation Advisory Commission includes local leaders from government agencies and organizations that have an interest or expertise in transportation. The advisory committee offers knowledge and expertise while acting as advocates.

Today, Friday, August 30 at 7 a.m. until Monday, September 2 at 4 p.m., the following bus routes will detour as follows:  


#52 - Chene

Effective Tuesday, September 3, Detroit Public School District (DPSD) students with a Detroit Public Schools Community District Temporary Bus Card can ride the bus for free until Friday, November 1. 

There are multiple bus detours scheduled on Friday, August 30 at 10 a.m. - Monday, September 2 at 11 p.m.

Detours are as follows:

  • $800K improvements include removal of median, added green space, playscape and more
  • Plaza will be under construction during month of September, following Jazz Festival
  • Plaza programming will be limited, Food Trucks to remain durin
