City of Detroit offices closed for Memorial Day holiday, May 25

  • No Meals Distributed by Recreation on Holiday
  • DPW Collection Delayed By One Day

Most City of Detroit offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Normal Police, Fire and Water and Sewerage services will be provided.

The Department of Public Works will NOT collect refuse, bulk, yard waste and curbside recycling on Monday, May 25.  Monday’s collection will be picked up on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s collection will take place on Wednesday and so forth. Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday.

The Detroit Parks & Recreation Division will NOT distribute meals on Monday, May 25.  Meal service will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

The Department of Transportation (DDOT) will operate bus service on a Sunday schedule on May 25 and return to a Saturday schedule on May 26. The Rosa Parks Transit Center will remain open. DDOT Administration Offices at 1301 E. Warren will be closed on Monday.

The Detroit People Mover remains temporarily closed. The administrative office will be closed on Memorial Day.

Detroit residents also are encouraged to celebrate Memorial Day by taking time to complete the 2020 Census at my2020census.gov.
