City of Detroit to observe Independence Day on July 3
- Residents can conduct City business online
The City of Detroit will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3, with many City operations suspended for the day. Normal Police, Fire and Water and Sewerage services will be provided.
The Department of Public Works will maintain its normal schedule and collect refuse, bulk, yard waste and recycling on Friday, July 3.
The Department of Transportation (DDOT) will operate its regular bus service on Friday, July 3. DDOT will operate on a Sunday schedule Saturday, July 4.
The People Mover remains closed for now. The Detroit Transportation Corporation administrative offices also will be closed on July 3.

Payments for property taxes, water bills and other services can be made using a DivDat kiosk at 56 locations throughout the city. To locate a kiosk, visit www.codkiosk.com.
For service requests with the Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED), residents are encouraged to use Accela/eLAPS 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The application allows individuals to submit applications for trade licenses, business licenses and permits.
