Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this program, the following conditions must be met:
-
Your home must be in the Impact Zone (see map above).
-
You must own and live in your home. If the home has more than 1 living unit, only the unit occupied by the homeowner is eligible. Homes must have 4 or fewer units to qualify.
-
Your household income must be less than 80% of the Detroit Metropolitan Area (HUD) Area Median Income (see flyer for income levels).
-
Your home has no delinquent property taxes or you are current in a tax payment plan.
-
Your home has not received a City of Detroit home repair grant in the past 10 years totaling $10,000.
-
All requested documentation is provided.
If more than 50 eligible applications are received, applicants will be prioritized first based on household income and secondly by length of homeownership. Eligibility does not guarantee participation in the program. If home repairs are the exclusive or shared responsibility of another entity (e.g., condo association) or other property owners, the home does not qualify for this program. City of Detroit employees are not excluded from participating in the program.
